Hello all,
Today, Professor Fletch (Yeah!!!) led our last discussion of Vogler. Fletch presented a brief overview of the readings: his main points of discussion were centered on the power of words, the power of stories, and the power of texts to explore and to connect humanity. Lucy and Liz B discussed the notion of relating to characters and sharing their experiences through these connections. Aleena mentioned that the individual journey is very important when writing and reading. Liz B and Katlyn furthered the discussion by mentioning the willing and wishing phase.
We then talked about the annotated bibliographies which are due on Tuesday Nov. 25. The bibliographies are 8-11, and you will also want to place a brief review of which fiction readings you enjoyed and which fiction readings you felt where not applicable. Thanks for helping me to locate the most applicable readings.
We talked about interviews, volunteering, and your poster presentation. Your interviews and volunteering logs are due on Tuesday Dec. 2. However, I strongly urge you to complete these exercises prior to that date. On Tuesday Dec 2, we will have a timed in-class writing, and then our Presentations are on Dec. 5.
I also explained that for the remaining three weeks we will have 15 minutes per class period to conduct work on projects, revisions of project one and two polished drafts, or other writing exercises. This is the time to bring your work to class, and to get the changes to work with me and your peers to craft polished drafts and texts.
For Friday
Read-Zafon (attached)
Write-Work on interviews, volunteering, annotated bibliographies, and such
Do-Read.
Take care,
Kat
