Hello all,

Today, we spent some time discussing revising and editing. I handed out a collection of handouts that will not help you with this polished draft, but they will help you other writing projects. Remember, you should always try to read your text and revise your text at varying times and mindsets, as a text is not a performance; instead, a text is the exposition and presentation of the development of your ideas about a topic. Remember, the word essay comes from the French essay--which means "to try."

We also talked about the importance of using different strategies to revise and to edit your texts. Some of the ideas that I implement is having peers and colleagues read and comment on my work, going to the writing center and have a peer tutor read and comment on on your work, reading your work aloud (even recording it) so that you HEAR your work and make sense of it as a listener, and of course, submitting it to your instructor for continued feedback and clarification.

We also spent some time in class working on the four modes analysis. You will need to make sure that you bring the completed rhetorical analysis handout to class on WEDS for credit (YES I HAVE BEEN SWAYED BY ALL OF YOUR SAD EYES AND CONTEMPLATIVE SIGHS TO CHANGE ONE OF THE DUE DATES). In addition, you will want to make sure that you post the drafts of your one to two paragraph analysis of each of the four on your blog for class on WEDS.

Do-Revise, revise and revise. I STRONGLY encourage you to resubmit your drafts for more feedback; you have until Sunday at 5 pm to submit)
Bring two copies of your drafts to class on Monday (both with names on them)
Post your one to two paragraph about your four modes by WEDS.
