M/W/F For Weds.

Hello all,

Today, Professor Veronica led our last discussion of Vogler. Veronica presented a brief overview of the readings: her main points of discussion were centered on the power of words, the power of stories, the writer as shaman, and the connection of solitude with writing. Andrew mentioned that words can also do harm, Jessie mentioned that good writing relates to your life, and Jordan mentioned that it was necessary to have some connection with the writer and the audience. Andrew also mentioned that writing was like Frankenstein as in it feeds off the audience's focus and attention, and for a moment or two, the text is alive.

We then talked about the annotated bibliographies which are due on Monday Nov. 24. The bibliographies are 8-11, and you will also want to place a brief review of which fiction readings you enjoyed and which fiction readings you felt where not applicable. Thanks for helping me to locate the most applicable readings.

We talked about interviews, volunteering, and your poster presentation. Your interviews and volunteering logs are due on Monday Dec. 1. However, I strongly urge you to complete these exercises prior to that date. On Weds. Dec. 3, we will have a timed in-class writing, and then our Presentations are on Dec. 5.

I also explained that for the remaining three weeks we will have 15 minutes per class period to conduct work on projects, revisions of project one and two polished drafts, or other writing exercises. This is the time to bring your work to class, and to get the changes to work with me and your peers to craft polished drafts and texts.
