T/Fr For Friday

Hello all,

Today in class, we discussed the feedback that you provided to me about the course work and expectations. I urge you to all complete the mid-term evaluation of the course. (Click Here to take survey

The survey really helps me to see what you think of the work we are doing. As a result of some of your feedback, I have decided to take a step back from the readings. Thus, this week we are going to have one-on-one conferences on Weds., Thursday, or Friday. Please sign up at ecandp2008fall.blogspot.com for your appointment. During this appointment, you need to bring your i-search text. At the meetings, we will be discussing the inquiry, research, and outlining.

In class, we discussed Vogler's Crossing of the First Threshold and Tests, allies, and enemies. Professor Liz led our discussion. Prof. Liz really focused on the relationships between the hero and the allies and enemies. Fletch mentioned that the rival gives the hero a drive to succeed, and Haden built on this idea by showing that there are always comparisons between the ally, enemy, and hero. Elenia mentioned the idea of moral stances and the need for balance in the story which Emma connected to Batman and the various allies, tests, and enemies encountered in the story. Aleena O mentioned the importance of helping others out which was also tied with the necessity of comic relief.

We also reviewed the I-Search. You only need to conduct one of the three interviews. The I-search will need to be posted on google docs. by Friday and brought to our conference, so happy working.

However, we did get the chance to go to the Library. YEAH!!! Remember to keep in touch with Helene and her team. You are all scholars now. Helene really helped us to get an understanding of the importance of specificity in our searching and researching. Remember, the Library is a great place to get "your information on."
