Hello all,
Welcome back to class. Today, we got right back in the swing of things with Professor Veronica leading our discussion and exploration of Vogler's Refusal of the Call and Meeting with the Mentor. We discussed the importance of the refusal in the story, and then we explored different mentors and their functions (As a class, we look towards Tyra, Gandhi, and Hannibal---what a great combo!!).
In addition, we spent some time "norming" and looking at how to evaluate writing. We normed three paragraphs, and then we discussed the rubric. We changed the grading scale so that the top number is Meets, without goes beyond. Remember as you are evaluating yourself and your peers that you need to be a "mentor."
For Weds....
Read: Book II of Kafka
Write: Post a comment on your peer's blog (answer one of their Vogler questions).
Do: Complete #4 of the I-Search component.
(For Friday, make sure that you complete a rubric for your self (with a strength and weakness for each of the four categories) and a rubric for your peer (with at least two comments per category).
Take care,
Kat
