M/W/F For Friday

Hello all,

Today in class, Professor Lincoln led our discussion about Vogler's crossing the first threshold and the tests, allies, and enemies. Andrew, Emily, Jessie, and Brooke contributed greatly to the discussion. I really like the idea that Javi had where she questioned whether any journey could lack allies. I am still thinking about this one.

We also discussed the amount of work you all have been doing, and thanks to some feedback which I have received through the mid-term survey (you can still access it at Click Here to take survey) I have realized that we need to slow the pace a bit, and to have a re-focusing. So, on Weds., Thurs., and Friday, we will be meeting to touch base on your project work.

We ended the day by "seeing" how rhetorical arrangement really "works." Using large baseballs, we went through the various stages of academic arrangement. We talked about how important telling your readers what you think and showing your readers why to believe you is in academic communication. I really liked the "cheese-ball." As we move to outlining/prewriting our drafts, you will want to "be the ball" when concerning yourselves with issues of structure. Remember papers are inquiries, paragraphs are inquiries, and sentences are inquiries....Just keep asking the right questions.

We also reviewed the I-Search. You only need to conduct one of the three interviews. The I-search will need to be posted on google docs. by Friday, so happy working. However, we are getting the chance to go to the Library on Weds. YEAH!!! (Have some questions for the Librarians).

For Weds...

Read-Nothing (Kerouac for next Weds)

Do-Work on I-Search. Post a answer/comment on your peer's blog for the Vogler reading.

Write-Make sure that you sign up for a time on weds., thurs., or friday. You must sign up through the ecandp2008fall.blogspot.com site.

Take care,

Kat
